I mentioned early that after the experiments with hacking some basic touch support to work with OpenLayers on the iPhone, I had back tracked a bit and headed in a slightly different direction. With some advice and guidance from Tim Schaub I started working on a more integrated approach, creating classes that act like and work with existing OpenLayers classes.

MetaCarta developed the initial version of OpenLayers and gave it to the public to further the use of geographic information of all kinds.
